My iPad lost its charge so this post had to wait until I could get it recharged.
Yesterday we spent a second day in Stockholm. We road a boat out to Drottningham, the “Versailles” of Sweden. We returned in the afternoon to Gamla Stan, the old part of Stockholm. We visited a few museums and ate ice cream in a quaint plaza. I bought as a souvenir a brunhilde-style Viking helmet, complete with attached blonde braids.
I should mention something at this point about my eighth-great grandfather, Johan Hultman. He was born sometime around 1660 and was a servant to various noble families as a young man and was eventually appointed to serve King Carl (Charles) XII. We saw many portraits and artifacts related to the families that he served. Unfortunately, however, there are no museum displays about the servant class…
