1854 News Article about Ship "Eleonore" From: Svenska Tidningen 1854-05-27, page 2 - the ship was brand new, the Hultman family went on its first sailing Translation: On Saturday afternoon, the new, previously mentioned clipper ship was launched at the Landgrenska wharf, in the presence of a whole host of spectators. The ship was so completely built that masts and mitts were also set up, and it was a beautiful sight when, decorated with a whole bunch of waving flags, it first slowly and then with rapid speed shot down into the lake. It was immediately proclaimed to the name: "eleonore". "Eleonore" is now being fitted out for her first voyage to New York for emigrants, and is expected to depart in 14 days. |
