SAMUEL SULLIVAN, Jr.: b. Aug. 21, 1928. Married Lillie Lees June 6, 1948. Junior is a farmer and belongs to the Baptist church. Lillie belongs to the Congregational church. They have two children: Vivian Kay, b. Feb. 26, 1949; Gladys Marie, b. Feb. 6, 1952.

Samuel McKee, Jr., age 70, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, January 26, 1999 at his residence north of Red Oak after an extended illness. Samuel Sullivan McKee, Jr. was born August 21, 1928 south of Red Oak, Iowa, son of Samuel and Julia Trued McKee.
He graduated from Strahan High School in 1947 and was united in marriage to Lillie Lees on June 6,1948 in Oakland, Iowa.
They farmed south of Emerson and also North of Red Oak. Lillie preceded Sam in death on December 18,1975.
Sam was united in marriage to Grace Frazee on June 13, 1976 in Storm Lake, Iowa. Sam continued to farm until his retirement in 1997 due to ill health.
He was active in 4-H as a youth and as a leader for many years and served on the Farmers Mercantile Board for nine years. He was active in the Strahan United Methodist Church but was still a member of the Emerson Baptist Church. Sam was also a member of the Classy Chassis Car Club of Red Oak and served as President. He attended many car shows receiving lots of trophies for his car collection. In the past few years he collected John Deere Tractors and later branched out to other "Makes". Sam enjoyed being a member of the Southwestern Iowa 2 Cylinder Club and served on the Board of Directors. He enjoyed meeting friends for coffee and was constantly looking for cars and tractors to restore. Grace and Sam enjoyed many trips looking for "Projects". His big project for last year was organizing the McKee 50th year
reunion. He spent many hours ordering and delivering McKee crest T-shirts, caps, and banners.
He is survived by his wife, Grace of Red Oak, Iowa; three daughters, Vivian Rasmussen and her husband Merlin of Red Oak, Iowa, Gladys Pierce and her husband Stan of Union, Nebraska; and Sue Gronemeyer and her husband Don of Hastings, Nebraska; six stepchildren, Phyllis Spicer, Vivian Cash and her husband Dave, and William Frazee and his wife Deb all of Emerson, Iowa, Arnold Frazee and his wife Tracey of Glenwood, Iowa, Linda Frazee of Des Moines, IA; Jan Hansen and her husband Jon of Atkins, Iowa; grandchildren, Dawn Miller and her husband. Dan, Alison, Derek and Nolan Pierce, Emily and Hannah Gronemeyer, Cathy, Jeff and Carol Spicer, Curt and Krista Frazee, and Nicholas and Anastasia Frazee; one great grandchild, Samuel Miller; three sisters, Opal Wendt of Omaha, Nebraska, Mildred Parker and her husband Gail of Red Oak, IA and Lola Adkins of Des Moines, IA; three sisters-inlaw, Audrey Vance and her husband Claire of Oakland, Iowa, Lola McKee of Emerson, Iowa and Mildred McKee of Red Oak, Iowa; brother-rin-law, Charles Lees and his and his wife JoAnn of Avoca, Iowa; nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lillie; brothers, Jim, Joe, Pat and Vernon; and infant sister, Helen.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 1999 at the Emerson Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Person and the Rev. Mary Allsup officiating. Burial was in the Emerson Cemetery. Visitation was open from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 1999 at the Nelson-Boylan. Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Altrusa Thermal Imaging Camera Fund, Heartland Hospice, Emerson Baptist Church, or the Stratton United Methodist Church. Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
