902 | Arthur was called Lester or Bud. He rode out of Fremont one day on his bicycle and was never heard from again. He lived for a time in Wahoo NE, in his later years. Not much is known about him...Bert Ladd. Arthur and his wife lived in Nickerson when their second son, Roy, was born. He had or worked at a blacksmith shop in Morse Bluff, Saunders, NE when they had their fifth child, Charles. He also worked for the Northwestern R.R. at some unkno point after Charles was born. He worked for a time for the Wahoo Wasp, Wahoo, Saunders, NE. His job was to try and repair the presses when they broke down. The dates of this job were about 1941-1943. He lived in a hotel in Wahoo, NE, located o on a corner of an intersection, on the second floor. Charles and his wife visited him there on more than one occasion. Arthur also traveled to and from CA many times. While in CA on these trips, he would work at his brother Johns saw sharpeninening shop. These trips were by bus. He rode a bicycle quite a bit in his later years in and around Fremont NE. Jack and Charles say he even got his picture in a Omaha newspaper together with a article about his long bike rides.....Charles Ladddd. Arthur's S.S. number was 508-07-6117. His grave is in section 35, block 7, lot 36, grave 10. In the 1917 draft list, he was number 1909 571, his P.O. was Nickerson NE. On his WWI draft registration card he said he was born in 1886 and was married and had 3 sons. In the 1910 census, Arthur and Hanna were living with his father and brother in Nickerson NE and there were no children listed! Where was Burt? The Rev. R. R. Mehafey, the Rev. B. N. Rogers, the Rev. T. A. Groce, the Rev. Mr. Mason and the Rev. Mr. White officiated. Pallbearers were Kattren Smathers, Hugh Sorrells, Howard Foster, Junius Foster, Vern Cogburn and Medford Cogburn, grandsons. Flowerbearers were Lillian Cogburn, Lora Jackson, Margaret Smathers, Neil McElrath, Vanda McElrath, Mae Smathers and Edna, Lucille, Carolyn, Foster and Clota Curtis, granddaughters. Mr. Cogburn, who died Monday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. J.H.
