They were married October 17, 1874, and moved immediately to a homestead in Polk County,-an inland village, because it had no Railroad. They were of the Lutheran faith and continued their membership in the Swede Home church for some time, but eventually left it and affiliated with the Swedish Methodist church in Stromsburg, where they remained until their death.

JOSEPH: Born on Nebraska farm and went to country school in Saunders County. He worked to help support his sisters and younger brother. After moving to Missouri with family, he married Allie Thompson (Feb. 1, 1910). Joe was stockily built and as a young man he helped along on his uncle Nils place whenever they were slack on their own farm. In fact, had it not been for Joe and his brother Alfred, and their tremendous capacity for work after their father died, it is doubtful whether their family and farm could have survived. They were giants in the earth. He has been a successful farmer in Amsterdam, Mo., ever since he acquired his own place. Joe and his family belong to the Baptist church.
