TABOR BEACON JULY 8, 1931 The following is the obituary: Harriet Dill was born in Morgantown, Indiana, Jan. 4, 1846. She was the daughter of Peter and Emily Dill. She spent the early years of her life in Indiana until the time of her marriage to Zeno Bass, Feb. 21, 1866. Seven children were born to their union; one son, Ora, died at the age of twenty-five years. The others survive her. They are: Mrs. Emily Timmons of Valley, Nebr., Mrs. Ida Dillehay of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Nannie Hodges and Mayo Bass of GlenwoodZeno Bass of Strahan, and Louis Bass of Malvern. She is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. They moved to Kansas shortly after they were married where they resided for several years and then moved to Iowa, locating on a farm in Rawles township, Mills county, in 1875. Here they lived for thirty-nine years, building up one of the fine fafarms of that section and adding to it as time went by. Here they reared their fine family and their hospitable home was known far and near. Mrs. Bass was a good neighbor and many there be who recall her many acts of kindness and neighborly help. She was a firm and devout believer in her God and read the Bible as her daily guide. In 1912 they retired from the farm and moved to Malvern where they built a fine home in the northwest part of town and here they lived until 1923 when Mr. Bass died. Since then she has made her home much of the time with her children. The past few months she seemed to be in fair health and when in town a short time ago she seemed very cheerful and enjoyed visiting with her friends as they came to see her. She was remarkably preserved for one of her age. Her death came as a distinct shock to all who knew her. She will be missed. | ||

In 18th-century Sweden, moving between parishes required official documentation. This certificate was likely a necessary document for Jän Eliasson and his family to establish themselves in their new parish, Nässjö. It serves as a record of their previous residence, family members, and their religious and educational standing. Translation and Explanation: Here's a translation of the document, with some explanations of the old Swedish terms: -"Bonden Jan Esaiesson från Olarp, född i Lommaryd Åhr 1753, som med sin hustru Stina Larsdotter född i Flisby Åhr 1761, afflytta till Nässjö": "Farmer Jan Eliasson from Olarp, born in Lommaryd in the year 1753, who with his wife Stina Larsdotter, born in Flisby in the year 1761, has moved to Nässjö." -"kunna båda läsa i bok, oth utan till Luth: Cath: tämligen wäl": "Both can read fairly well, and are reasonably well-versed in the Lutheran Catechism." (Luth: Cath: is short for Lutheranska Katekesen, the Lutheran Catechism) -"En del af Svebelu Cning kann Mannen dock blott skyckewit och hustrun något mer": "The man can only write a little, and the wife can write a bit more." (Svebelu Cning likely refers to Swedish writing or spelling) -"begreppen äro enfaldige": "Their understanding is simple." -"här hafwa de fördt en oklandrad lefnad": "They have led an unblemished life here." -"infunnit sig wid förhören och begådt h: Hr Nattward sidst d 2 Februari detta Åhr": "They have presented themselves for questioning and received Holy Communion last on the 2nd of February this year." -"deras barn som äro följaktige är Sohnen Iaac född i Solberga Åhr 1782": "Their children who are accompanying them are: their son Isaac, born in Solberga in the year 1782." -"kan läsa wäl bok, utan till Luth Catts och en stor del af Gråbergs för klaring": "He can read well, is familiar with the Lutheran Catechism, and a large part of Gråberg's explanations." (Gråberg was likely a religious text or teacher.) -"dot: Maya född i Flisby 1786 har börjat läsa": "Their daughter Maya, born in Flisby in 1786, has started to read." -"Sohn Magnus född i Solberga 1789 och Sohn Johannes född.
