Daniel was the 5th of 7 children born to Nathaniel and Elizabeth Ladd. They were, Nathaniel , Elizabeth, Mary, Lydia, Daniel, John and Anna Ladd. When Nathaniel died, Elizabeth marrie d Henry Wadleigh and they had Sarah, Abigail, Joseph, Martha and Benjamin Wadleigh.

He was part of a expedition to protect the more Easern settlements. The attack took pl ace near Cape Elizabeth, ME, and he died a few days later at his home in Exeter, NH.
