    REMEMBRANCES FROM FERN:

    There is no other church like Grace (Swedeburg). My father helped install the bell. I remember they installed it on a Saturday. How they did that back then, getting it way up there. . .
    Those wonderful stained glass windows - every time you look at them, they bring back memories.
    I remember one time they had to open the doors (North wall of the Sanctuary) because they had so many people in church.
    When I was in Confirmation class, we had to take our sermon notes in Swedish. That is until the war came, and we could only use one language.
    My mother used to say how Aunt Ellen was such a wonderful coo
    We lived down the hill from Uncle Will and Aunt Ellen and used to climb over the fence and go up and play at their place. I think we saw each other every day.
    When your Grandmother (Florence) and I talk, we sure do a lot of remembering and talking about when we were growing up.

    Fern A.L. Rolofson 101, Lincoln, widow of Donald, died Saturday (6/6/09). Born (6/22/1907) in Concord, Neb. to August and Josina (Erlander) Benson. Homemaker. Member: Evangelical United Lutheran Church and Altar Guild, former cook at Northeast High School and Willard Sorority at Nebraska Wesleyan University, former Campfire leader, worked for Election Board for many years.
    Family members include son, daughter-in-law: James and Catherine Rolofson, San Antonio, Texas; daughter, son-in-law: Janice and Gary Gustafson, Lincoln; grandchildren, spouses: Erik Gustafson; Marc and Peggy Gustafson; Curt Rolofson; Kristen Gustafson and Mitch Larsen; great grandchildren: Atley and Grace Gustafson; Annika Larsen. Preceded in death by parents; husband; sisters: Ruth, Naomi and Genevieve; great-granddaughter, Heather Gustafson.

    Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Rolofson will entertain at dinner Sunday as a courtesy to their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rolofson, who were married Feb. 11.
    Thirty guests will attend including from out of town, Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Rolofson of Grand Island and Mr. and Mrs. August Benson of Wahoo. Mis Ida Klepper will be in charge of entertainment. There will be a yellow and white color note in the appointments and yellow and white flowers will be used on the table.

    LAST RITES HELD FOR AUGUST BENSON, 82

    Services were held Monday, September 29 at 3 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Swedeburg for August Benson, 82, retired Saunders County farmer who passed away in Omaha, Friday evening, September 26th after a long illness at the home of his dhter, Mrs. Naomi Meyer.
    Survivors, Mrs. Josina Benson, Omaha; daughter, Mrs. Naomi Meyer, Omaha; Mrs. Fern Rolofson, Lincoln; Mrs. Genevieve Walther, San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Lilly Brodd, Lincoln; Mrs. Esther Td, Sanford, Florida; brother, Emil Benson, Lincoln.
    Internment was at Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
