Roy A. Carlson 86, Lincoln, died Wednesday (12/31/08). Born May 5, 1922, in Lindsborg, Kan. to Paul & Agnes Carlson. Graduate of Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kan.; received a masters degree from Emporia State; inducted into the Bethany College Athletic Hall of Fame; WWII veteran, flew 44 combat missions in the Pacific as a B-24 tail gunner; joined State Farm Insurance Company as an agent in 1953; retired in 1987 as Deputy Regional Vice-President; life-long member of the Evangelical Covenant Church; Bryan Hospital volunteer; member of Sertoma Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes-Adult Chapter.
Survivors: wife, Loraine; daughters & sons-in-law, Nancy & Dennis Carlson; Diane & Steve O'Conner; daughter-in-law, Lorie Callaway; grandchildren & Spouses: Justin & Liz Ring-Carlson; Sara & Andy Voss; Courtney & Kaitlin O'Connor; Cara & Matt Smith; Lane White; Nancy & Les Scattergood; five great-grandchildren. Also survived by step-sons, Dr. Larry Dotson & Dr. Randy Dotson and families. Preceded in death by: first wife, Thelma; son, Bryce.
Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Friday (1/9/09) at First Evangelical Covenant Church, 6024 "L" Street, Lincoln, NE 68510, with Pastor Matt Rudeen officiating. No visitation/cremation.
