    THE TRUED FAMILY IN THE U.S.A.

    JOHANNA: (Jenny) Third child of Trued and Elsie Nilsson. Born July 30, 1847 in Attarp, Kristianstads Lan, Sweden.
    She came to U. S. and to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1871, where she worked in the home of the late Dr. Allen R. Benton, first chancellor of the University of Nebraska. After three years in this home she became the bride of Olaf Swanson, who had arrived on the same sailing vessel from Sweden. They were married October 17, 1874, and moved immediately to a homestead in Polk County,-an inland village, because it had no Railroad. They were of the Lutheran faith and continued their membership in the Swede Home church for some time, but eventually left it and affiliated with the Swedish Methodist church in Stromsburg, where they remained until their death.
    They were the parents of seven children, the oldest two being twins. The writer, as a youngster, remember Aunt

    TRUED NILSSON AND WIFE ELSA

    TRUED NILSSON: Born in 1819, died 1890. He was born in Kristianstads lan, Sweden and came to America several years after the arrival of his son, Nil Trued, who arrived in the early spring of 1868. He was a man of medium stature, blue eyes, dark brown hair and of gentle manner.
    He inherited considerable estate from his father and grandfather, - the latter being considered one of the wealthiest men in Sweden in his time, - but through faulty judgment, promiscuous underwriting of notes, etc., he and his immediate family lost the fortune, and almost penniless, he came to America to live with his son Nils until his death.
    His grandfather possessed a Bible which was brought by the family to America, (now in the writer
