THERESA BERNADINE: Born Dec. 23, 1899 and grew up on farm near Touhy, Nebr., where she went to school. After graduating from high school she engaged in teaching for several years, later serving as nurse in a Denver hospital following WWI. She married George Ellenberger, a patient who had been disabled in the war. After he recovered a degree of health, they worked hard at farming and dairying, later raising sheep. At present, they are in semi-retirement and living in the environs of Denver; however, Therese is following some work at St. Anthony

AMANDA: Also born in sod-house on Nebraska prairie and spending her childhood in Lincoln, Nebr. Attended country school at Ceresco. In her early teens was known as the best horsewoman in the territory, and like Selma learned to cook, milk cows and ride herd. Nor were any complaints ever voiced against her culinary skill, for like Selma she was a master at the craft. Worked in Omaha for several years and always returned in beautiful clothes. No men in their right mind could long be indifferent to the pulchritude of such sisters, and soon two young Swede brothers appeared on the scene, Axel Anderson, the younger, marrying Selma, the older sister, and the reverse, August marrying Amanda. NILS TRUED AND HIS WIFE JOHANNA MATHILDA

NILS TRUED: Second child of Trued and Elsie Nilsson. Born Nov. 27, 1844, he came from Attarp, Kristianstads Lan, Sweden. First of family to arrive in America in the early spring of 1868, he was followed in succession by three sisters, one brother and his parents.
He went directly to Hastings, Minnesota, but also lived at Red Wing. Helped construct RR between Chicago and Minneapolis. Worked also as a farm-hand and did some tailoring, a trade he had apprenticed in Sweden. In Sweden he attended grade and high (trade) school, and spent three years in the Swedish army. He ha gray-blue eyes, was rugged, but of medium build.
In 1869 he set out for the open prairies of Nebraska, about a year after the state had been admitted to the Union. He crossed the Missouri River below Omaha on the Plattsmouth ferry and in the company of Betsy, Nellie and Swan Dedrick,-whom he h had escorted from Red Wing,-proceeded to the little village of Lancaster (Lincoln). He immediately filed on a homestead 18 miles north of town and the next spring, with the help of Martin (Magnus) Erickson, who had just arrived with brother John from Sweden, he built a dugout-soddie on a southern hillside.
