Notes: Emily Bass, daughter of Zeno and Harriet (Dill) Bass, was the oldest of 7 children. At a very young age she went with her parents to Kansas, where they remained until 1873, then moved to Malvern, Iowa. Here she grew to womanhood, and here she also met and married Charles Timmons.

Notes: Salathiel and Lydia were married in 1859, and the following year moved to Illinois (1860), and apparently lived is Coles County. Salathiel was one of 10 brothers and 2 sisters. He is known to have lived in Ashmore Township both before and after the Civil War. They owned their farm. A brother Isaac lived with Salathiel and his family for a time after the war. Notes: Zeno moved from Indiana to Kansas in 1867, and went on to Iowa in 1873. He farmed for 39 years. He later moved to Malvern in 1912. They travelled from Indiana to Kansas via covered wagon, after experiencing drought and a siege with the grasshooppers. They left Kansas and moved to a farm 5 miles southwest of Malvern, Iowa, where his son Louis lived until 1957, whien Louis' granson moved into the house (Richard). Zeno was a successful farmer and owner of a large farm. He raised Black Angus cattle. Later in life, Zeno and Harriet moved to Malvern where they built a new home in the northwest part of town. One of his great grandsons occupies the house at present (1980), Richard Bass, son of Austin Bass, son of Louis Bass, son of Zeno. Zeno married Harriet Dill on 21 Feb 1866 in Morgantown, Morgan, Indiana, USA. Harriet (daughter of Peter Dill and Emily Patton) was born on 4 Jan 1846 in Morgantown, Morgan, Indiana, USA; died on 3 Jul 1931 in Malvern, Mills, Iowa, USA; was buried in Malvern Cemetery, Malvern, Mills, Iowa, USA.
