    Lola I. McKee, age 78, of Red Oak, Iowa formerly of Emerson, Iowa passed away Monday, September 13, 2004 at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Lola Irene McKee was born April 2, 1926 in rural Macedonia, Iowa. She graduated from the Macedonia Consolidated High School in 1943 and later graduated from Commercial Extension Business School in Omaha, Nebraska. Lola was united in marriage to Vernon McKee on October 27, 1946 in Macedonia, Iowa. They farmed and raised livestock all of their lives in Mills County, Iowa. Vernon preceded Lola in death in May of 1998. Lola recently moved into Red Oak. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and the Go Ye Fellowship. Lola loved the Lord and shared the Gospel with her friends and family. She enjoyed inviting young people to church activities and often made sure they had a ride to attend these events. She helped organize and lead the 4-H Club Indian Deerettes in Mills County. Lola loved to make quilts for all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Lola's other hobbies include reading and gardening.

    Lola was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Vernon; brothers: Don and Loren Bradshaw; sisters: Winona Leimbach and Leora Miller; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

    Survivors include her children: Charles McKee and wife Deanna of Red Oak, Iowa; Russell McKee and wife Louisa of Malvern, Iowa; and Carol Hall and husband Jerrold of Traverse City, Michigan; grandchildren: Phillip McKee and wife Susan of Johnstoton, Iowa; Julia Goheen and husband Scott of Des Moines, Iowa; Jason McKee of Glenwood, Iowa; Paula Reyhons and husband Jay of Ankeny, Iowa; Timothy Hall and wife Rachael of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; Luke McKee and wife Julie of Marysville, Ohio; and Kevin Hall and wife Rebekah of Newport News, Virginia; great grandchildren: Jessica and Brooklyn McKee and Devin Hall; sisters-in-law: Gayle Bradshaw of Griswold, Iowa; Opal Wendt of Omaha, Nebraska; Lola Adkins of Des Moines, Iowa; Mildred McKee of Red Oak, Iowa; Grace McKee of Emerson, Iowa; and Audrey McKee Vance of Oakland, Iowa; brother-in-law: Gail "Bud" Parker of Red Oak, Iowa and many other relatives and friends.

    Funeral services were held at the Emerson Baptist church for S. S. McKee Sr., at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Wm. Van Antwerp in charge on Friday, Oct. 4, 1968.
    Honorary pallbearers were Charles Lees, L. V. Bradley, Morris Evans, Harold Smith, Frank Durbin, Boyd Nuckols, John R. Lauritzen and Edward L. Lnughlin. Pall bearers were grandsons, Grant Shaw, Joseph McKee, Stanley Shaw, Russell McKee, Mark J. Parker, Daniel M. Shaw, Charles McKee, James B. Parker, Kenneth McKee, Samuel L. McKee and Ross Parker.
    Music was furnished by Mrs. Edward Greenwood, organist and Frederick Larson, soloist. Mrs. Gilbert Carlson jr., Mrs. Alfred Anderson and Mrs. Francis Parker were in charge cf the floral offerings. Ushers were Ivan Durbin, Gordon Frink and Edward Greenwood.
    Humanity Lodge No. 378, A. F. and A.M. were in charge of the graveside rites at the Emerson cemetery.
    The son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel C. McKee, he was born July 18, 1889, at Adrian, Mo., and passed away Oct. 1. 1968, at the Red Oak hospital after an illness of six weeks.
    He had farmed in the Emerson area for more than 60 years. In 1911 he was married to Juilia E. Trued, who passed away in 1953, and in 1954 he was married to Lois Gauld, who
    survives. Other survivors are four sons, Joseph J. and Vernon D., both of Emerson, LeRoy K. (Pat) and Samuel S. Jr.. both of Red Oak; three daughters, Mrs. Opal Shaw of Red Oak, Mrs. Lola Adkins of Des Moines and Mrs. Mildred Parker of Villisca: Two brothers, Stanley of Buller, Mo., and George of Amsterdam, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Olive Faulkner of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs.Maude Warnick of Peru, III; 27 grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
    For many years Mr. McKce had been a leader in community affairs, he was honored by the Omaha Chamber of Commerce in 1958 as a Pioneer Shipper. He served as a Director cf the Emerson State Bank for 20 years, and was a member of the First Baptist church, Humanity Lodge No. 378. AF & AM, and of the OES all of Emerson.

    JOHN TRUED: Fourth child of Trued and Elsie Nilssson. Born April 13, 1851 in Attarp Torrup Soken, Kristianstads Lan, Sweden. He arrived in America together with several sisters in 1871, (a date fixed by Joe, his son, although writer believes it was several years later inasmuch as he could not have fulfilled his military duties in Sweden before age 21).
    John came directly to the Nebraska Territory where Nils his brother, had preceded him. He acquired 40 acres of land (probably through homestead act) due east of Nils Trued

    John married Emma Sophia Anderson in 1883 in Grace Lutheran Church, Swedeburg, Saunders County, Nebraska by Rev. Arthur H. Peterson. Emma was born on 15 Apr 1863 in Vereby, Smaland, Sweden; died on 1 Feb 1927 in Missouri; was buried in Scott Cemetery, Amsterdam, Bates County, Missouri. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
