    Mildred I. McKee, age 89, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Sunday, February 25, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Care Center. Mildred Ingelborg McKee was born August 11, 1917 in Howard County, Nebraska the daughter of Marius and Ingelborg Hansen Larsen. S She attended school in District 65 and District 7 near St. Paul, Nebraska. Mildred was united in marriage to Joseph John McKee on January 31, 1942 in Cushing, Nebraska. After WWII, they began farming north of Red Oak near Wales and then moved to the Stanton area. In 1960 they moved to the "homeplace" on highway 34 near Emerson. In 1992 Mildred moved to Red Oak.

    Mildred attended Grace Baptist Church in Red Oak. In her earlier years she was a Hospice Volunteer and a Sunday School Teacher. She also had been active in various ladies groups, school related organizations, and Bible Study Groups. She loved her family, enjoyed working with her husband, and she cared deeply for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph J. McKee on May 5, 1979; parents: Marius and Ingelborg Larsen; daughter: Lana Kay Brown on October 23, 2005; and son-in-law: Richard Brown on April 26, 1977 and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Survivors include her daughter: Dana Wellhausen and husband Keith of Clarinda, Iowa; sons: Joe McKee and wife Suzy of Okoboji, Iowa; and Kenneth McKee and wife Pat of Omaha, Nebraska; nine grandchildren: Chad Wellhausen and wife Allison of Cllarinda, Iowa; Brett Wellhausen and wife Melissa of Clarinda, Iowa; Mark Brown and wife Jennifer of Noblesville, Indiana; R.W. Brown and wife Danielle of Shorewood, Illinois; Adam Brown and wife Jamie of Burlington, Wisconsin; Chad McKee and wife Diane of Sioux Falls South Dakota; Monte McKee and wife Grace of Colorado Springs, Colorado; J.J. McKee and wife Becky of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and Jennifer Bradley and husband Darrin of Bennington, Nebraska; 12 great grandchildren; two brothers: Andy Larsen of California; and Virgil Larsen of Hays, Kansas; brother-in-law: Gail Parker of Red Oak, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Grace McKee of Red Oak, Iowa; Lola Adkins of Des Moines, Iowa; and Audrey Vance and husband Claire of Oakland, Iowa; and many cousins and other relatives and friends. Mildred is now in the loving arms of her Savior and is greatly missed by all who knew her.

    Funeral services will be held 10 AM Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Walters officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Grace Baptist Church.

    Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

    Mildred married Joseph John McKee on 31 Jan 1942. Joseph (son of Sam Sullivan McKee Sr. and Julia Elizabeth Trued) was born on 21 Mar 1914 in Montgomery County, Iowa; died in May 1979 in Mills County, Iowa; was buried in Emerson Cemetery, Emerson, Mills County, Iowa.
