Genealogy is such a cool hobby. You never know what’s around the corner when you start doing some research.
Remember a few days ago, I pulled a random envelope out of my files? It concerned the military service of my great-great-great-grandfather Salathiel Timmons. Well, after writing that post, I decided to go on ancestry.com and see what else I could find out about him. I discovered that there’s another Timmons relative out there researching the same family. So we corresponded by email and it turns out she’s about the same age as me and Salathiel Timmons is also her great-great-great-grandfather. That means we’re third cousins!

We are now exchanging photos and other information – likely both of us will fill in some blanks in our research as a result. Plus, I got to meet a new cousin!
