On this date (March 14) in 1923, Lawrence and Clarinda Rudeen were married.
Here’s what I wrote about their wedding day in the Rudeen Family History (1997):
They were married on March 14, 1923 at Clarinda’s home. The weather turned nasty that day, preventing many of the guests from returning home.
Lawrence and Clarinda had plans to spend their wedding night in Lincoln, but the combination of the bad weather and the fact that the sow was giving birth to her piglets meant that the wedding night was spend at Lawrence’s home across the road. Reportedly, a few of Lawrence’s cousins spent the night there as well.
A belated honeymoon was taken later that summer to Denver, Colorado. Lawrence and Clarinda traveled with Edward, Hulda and Clarinda’s brother Wallace.
Clarinda taught school in Ceresco for about a year after they were married.
