On this date (February 8) in 1899, Edward Cornelius Hanson and Hulda Martinson were married. Edward and Hulda were my great-grandparents.
This was a second marriage for Edward. His first wife, Anna Hanson – Hulda’s sister, had died of “brain fever” not quite two years earlier. Edward and Anna had two daughters together. Hulda was already their aunt, now she became their mother too.
This was a double wedding. Another sister, Ida, was married on this same date to Charles Fredrik Mostrom. Making the day even more exciting, Hulda’s and Ida’s sister-in-law Anna (wife of Nels) went into labor right as the ceremony was getting underway. The mother of the brides, Nilla Martinson, was called away to help with the delivery. Rosalin Ida Martinson was born on this same date too!
