You may have noticed a lack of posts lately…
I’ve been tinkering around with a new software product that can be used to create your own online family tree. Most genealogy software programs allow you to publish your family tree on a website, but it results in hundreds of files that all have to be re-published anytime you change or add something. This alternative product lets you simply upload the data, and it generates all the pages for you. Much easier.
However, it took a lot of tinkering to get it up and running. I think I’ve finally gotten it mostly working. And by the way, I have configured it so that, unless you have a password, you cannot see any information about living people.
In the process of getting this all set up, I’ve discovered a lot of little issues with the way I document sources. I have not always been consistent in the way I store images and data. So I’ve got a lot of “cleaning house” to do in my database before I get too excited about adding more people to my family tree.
So enjoy snooping around the family tree if you’re interested. A link to it now appears at the top of this website – click on “Family Tree”.
