This is the first entry in my new “Rademacher Roots” blog. I’ll be posting pictures and details about the Rademacher family history. Read more about this project here.
This is my favorite historical Rademacher photo (click on it to see the large version). It shows Joseph and Josepha Rademacher, who emigrated from Germany in the spring of 1878, along with their surviving children and one of their granddaughters. Joe Rademacher Sr., the first Rademacher to come to Longmont, is at the upper left in this photo.
Upon coming to America, they settled in Crete, Nebraska where Joseph’s younger brother Frank had settled in about 1870. The photo was taken in 1920 on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. Joseph died about a year after this photo was taken, and Josepha died in 1927.

Karen,
I absolutely love what you are doing with the history of the Rademacher’s. You are doing a fantastic job! I truly wish that I could have learned more from you! I have been rather unambitious on my research. Did I tell you that Great-Grandma Hattie did tell me the “gypsy” story. If you haven’t heard it, let me know.
Scott’s family would be as interesting historically as your Rudeen’s. Parts of his family have been here since pre-Revolution. One of his ancestors actually died from injuries sustained in one of the Revolutionary wars. He also has numerous relatives that served in the Civil War; mainly in Iowa Regiments. If you ever has lots of time, I would love to learn more from you.
Thank you for all of the time that you spend on this project,
Janine
