John Martinson is my great-great-grandfather. He was born in 1833 in Kristianstad, Sweden and died in 1901 in Saunders County, Nebraska. By all appearances, he seems to have been a hard-working, ethical, and highly intelligent man.
He was one of my first research subjects back in the 1980s. At the time, I was a beginner genealogist and made a lot of data entry errors and faulty assumptions and I left a lot of easily-fillable gaps in my research. I decided it’s high time to go back and do it right! I am sure I will be collecting and documenting dozens and dozens of records that mention him by name.
You can follow along on my progress on the John Martinson Project research page. Updates to this research will not appear in the automated emails that go out, but I will try to mention it from time to time in posts on other topics.
From time to time, I will also update his profile on my online family tree. As of this writing, the profile is surprisingly sparse considering I how much I already know about this ancestor.
At the conclusion of my research, I will be collecting everything into a printed book that will be available for purchase.
