This week’s theme is “Fortune.” Merriam-Webster gives several definitions for fortune: A large sum of money; prosperity attained partly through luck; or destiny, fate.
I wish I could offer up a tale of fabulous wealth or a miraculous inheritance but sadly, neither Dale nor I descend from “old money”.
My great-great-grandfather Lars “Louis” Hanson went off to the California Gold Rush and apparently returned to Illinois with enough money in his pocket to buy a farm. So maybe that counts for a small-ish fortune!
