Almost on a whim, I checked out the ScotlandsPeople data to see if there was anything new for the Campbell family and was delighted to find that Ann’s baptism record had been added to their digital collection about three months ago.
Joseph Fraser, a troubled soul
I have recently uncovered some very sad information about my 4x-great-uncle Joseph Fraser. Joseph was a brother to Andrew Fraser, my 3x-great-grandfather. Andrew emigrated to the United States from Scotland in about 1855. But Joseph stayed in Scotland his entire life.
Nils Olsson in Swedeburg
An early find in the Grace Lutheran church books is a notation for Nils Olsson, the father of Johanna (Nilsdotter) Pearson. He is my 3x-great-grandfather. I knew he came to Nebraska, but didn’t know for sure whether he ended up near his two daughters, Johanna and Bengta.

Part 16 – Epilogue
Finding a 368-page probate file for an ancestor you didn’t know much about is HUGE. A big file usually means the probate was contested. It was surely bad news for the family at the time, but great news for the genealogist looking at the file 160 years later!
