A recipe for cough syrup

I came across this 1901 postcard at the back of the notebook, so it’s a bit out of sequence.

It is a postcard written by Edward Frasier, sent to his mother Ann [Campbell] Frasier.

Dear Mother,

The recipe for the cough syrup that Nellie asked for is as follows:

Good whiskey, 5 oz.
Glycerine, 2 oz.
Rock Candy, 1oz.

This is good cough syrup for most of coughs. The 3 makes a syrup when mixed and dissolved.
