Valentines

February 14, 2021 by karen

This week’s theme is “Valentine.” Do you have any Valentines from any of your ancestors? Or maybe you have an ancestor named Valentine.

Dale has a relative named Valentine – born on Valentine’s Day, of course!

Ted, Albert and Clem Rademacher

This would be his great-uncle Albert Valentine Rademacher, born February 14, 1913 in Snyder, Morgan County, Colorado. Albert is the little boy seated on the stool in this photo, flanked by his brothers Ted on the left (Dale’s grandfather) and Clem at right.

Albert moved with the family from Snyder to the Longmont area in 1926 or 1927. He married Eva Steinbach in 1940. He and Eva had seven children. They farmed land near Highway 119 and I-25, land  that is now part of St. Vrain State Park.

Here are a couple more photos. First a family photo from about 1935 of the family of Joseph and Annie Rademacher. Albert is in the back row, far right. That one is followed by a fun photo of Albert and Eva probably taken in 1940, perhaps upon their engagement.

Family of Joseph and Annie Rademacher, ca 1935. Back: John, Joe, Ted, Clem, Albert. Center: Leo. Front: Elizabeth, Annie, Bernard, Joe Sr., and Bertha.

Albert and Eva Rademacher, ca 1940.
